Vento noroeste (Northwest wind) for violin, clarinet and cello
Music of colors and timbres, Northwest wind is a piece in the form of air sound and whistles variations. It tries to expose these materials to different acoustic contexts by means of instrumentation and re-harmonisation. The work was composed after the reading of Marcel Proust's text Ocean Wind in the Country, published in Pleasures and days. Full of subtil colors, the text evokes a whole atmosphere, a clear field landscape assailed by the "sea" wind. "The trees, the drying linens, the peacock spreading its tail stand out in the transparent air as blue shadows, extraordinarily sharp, and flying with all wings, but not leaving the ground, like a poorly launched kite". From these references Northwest wind assembles music materials in a landscape way : pianissimo and delicate sounds are invited to be part of the audience landscape, sound and silence are considered as a continuum. The piece was revised and dedicated to l'Ensemble l'Itinéraire in 2012.
